Hi PJ; If there are no appreciable leaks, and no white or blue smoke in the exhaust, if you change oil at 2000 miles, there should be no loss in between for at least 20,000 miles. I had a Suzuki GN400X, which was a 400 single that came out in 1980, used to run it 60 and 70 mph, had it for 22,000 miles, changed oil every 2000,was not equipped with a filter, and did not drop below the center line on the inspection glass. Hope this might give some idea what to expect.
